The Fridge

The Fridge, originalmente cargada por dar_morrow.

Nice size fridge. Settings were taped down so we couldn’t adjust them. Small freezer and meat compartment. Generally an okay fridge.

Otherwise this old kitchen didn’t have much in the way of supplies. A cheap knife set, pots that go for 50 pesos for 4. No lids except for the frying pan and dutch oven. Really not impressed with the lack of supplies.

Absolutely only the most necessary items. No colander, no garlic press (ok – I’m being fussy), but no wine glasses and flashlight.
That is a really big deal because when you come home at night, it’s dark. Lots of the barrio is not lit and if it is, it is by motion sensor lights – that often don’t work. It’s quite scary when someone comes up behind in a dark and narrow alley.

The owner charges $25 if you lose the keys. She says there is no flashlight because guests keep losing them. All I can say is charge for the loss of the flashlight like everything else…

View of Kitchen

Basically, I’m standing in the living room and looking into the kitchen. You can see the very small TV. There must be some kind of English speaking news option for cable because everyone has the same thing. Basically you get CNN, etc and regular Mexican channels (a good way to learn the language and train your ear).

Bedroom Desk

The telephone is located here. Lots of calls from advertising. Also the number is similar to San Miguel Immigration and we got lots of those wrong numbers.

And the desk? It’s got to be at least 10″ Good to put things on but not to really use…

And it’s in the bedroom.

Clothes Closet and Storage, originalmente cargada por dar_morrow.

Lots of closet space and storage in the main living area. There’s also a dresser in the bedroom and lots of English books.

Nice rocking chair that is very comfortable with the addition of pillows.

The Kitchen

Here you can see the lovely tile work. But unfortunately, this is pretty much the entire kitchen. Toaster oven, 4 burner gas stove and oven. We ran out of gas the first day we were there and again one other time. Seemed to always happen first thing before coffee ;-) You can also see the garbage – right in the middle of the floor with no cover – just a wicker basket of sorts.

Absolutely no room for two people.

The Sofa Bed

You can see windows pretty much everywhere and they all have screens. It’s a blessing.

The sofa was of questionable comfort but was managable with pillows. You can see the laptop here on the coffee table. It was our TV while we were there.

The internet connection wasn’t great. The owner has a health problem and turns off the wireless at night. Besides getting slow or no speed, she would sometimes to forget to turn it on – we’re all human.

The Hot Air Balloon

We would hear the noise around 7AM and grab our cameras to get a shot. Lucky for us it was every morning. It’s kind of nice to sleep in.

Stairs to Rooftop Terace, originalmente cargada por dar_morrow.

A short set of stairs up to the rooftop terrace. Nothing much up there except metal chairs and a table. Did I mention the VIEW?

El Jardin in San Miguel, originalmente cargada por dar_morrow.

This is El Jardin right after the Firing of the Judases. Bill did a wonderful painting of the scene.

Jacaranda Trees in Bloom, originalmente cargada por dar_morrow.

This is the second rattan sofa. Not that comfortable along with the only table in the house. It was way too small. I usually sit and do my homework on one side and Bill uses the other side to do his artwork. Now only one of us could use the table at a time and it was really unsatifactory.
